Boonville and Cooper County Fire Protection District firefighters are currently working a fire at the Spirit of 76 warehouse near I-70 in Boonville.

The warehouse contains fireworks. Boonville firefighters tell 939 the Eagle that the fire is at the warehouse. The Cooper County Fire Protection District’s Facebook page indicates they’re providing mutual aid to Boonville.

State Rep. Tim Taylor (R-Speed), who represents the area in Jefferson City, tells 939 the Eagle that paramedics on-scene tell him they’ve gotten all the employees out safely. Representative Taylor also tells 939 the Eagle that medics have had to stage away from the building, due to continuous fireworks explosions. He says one employee sustained a twisted ankle that’s not burn-related. You’re urged to avoid the area.

Representative Taylor is currently on his way to the emergency operation center. We’ll have the latest on the fire Tuesday morning on 939 the Eagle’s “Wake Up Mid-Missouri.”
